Qin Jie Presents Two Papers at IAMCR
Qin Jie, a second-year PhD student of the lab, had two papers presented on the annual convention of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR), held in Durban, South Africa, from 15 to 19, July 2012. One of her studies, titled Networking among Environmental NGOs in China: A Hyperlink Network Analysis , was presented on the panel of international communication. The other paper, titled The Production and Consumption of Digital Religious Goods: Mining Buddhism Blogs was presented on the panel of media religion and culture.

Professor Sandhya Rao from Texas State University, the chair of the panel of international communication, commended Qin Jie’s presentation for “connecting with the audiences very well”. As one of the recipients funded by Hong Kong PhD Fellowship, Qin Jie has 3 translated books, 7 conference papers, and 18 articles published or accepted in her second year of PhD study. Established in 1957, IAMCR is the worldwide professional organization in the field of media and communication research. “I would like to use two keywords, diversity and mentorship, to highlight what impressed me most at the conference.” said Qin Jie, “This is what makes IAMCR a unique opportunity for research students to get involved.”
