Zhiqun coauthored a paper with Dr. Mei Wu of Macau University on “Professional identity of internet marketers” based on a survey of internet promoters.

In a keynote speech titled “New media research in the age of big data: Hyper, myth, and reality”, Jonathan outlined his views on six controversial questions about big data:

  1. Is big always better, or big means more noise;
  2. Does big data represent a new era, or just a new bottle of old wine;
  3. Is big data accessible everywhere; or
  4. Are technologies ready for big data;
  5. Is sampling no longer necessary;
  6. Is theory dead.
