Social Media Analytics Workshop Well Attended at ICA 2015

A Blue Sky Workshop organized by Jonathan and Winson kicked off at ICA 2015 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The topic for the workshop is “Tools for teaching and learning of social media analytics”. Over 30 participants (including leading new media scholars Ronald Rice, Rich Ling and several rising stars of social media analytics) joined, discussing the pros and cons of various tools and strategies for teaching social media analytics. Two well known developers of social media analytics tools, James Cook from U of Maine at Augusta and Marc Smith from Social Media Research Foundation, also joined in via Skype. At the end of the Workshop, participants decided to start the formation of an interest group on social media analytics in ICA.
