Lab Members Led National Workshop on Computational Communication Research

Four members of the Lab taught in a 7-day national workshop on Computational Communication Research (CCR) in July 3-9, sponsored by Fudan Intensive Summer Training (FIST) program. Jonathan Zhu kicked off the workshop with lectures on social network analysis, followed by Hai Liang on R programming and data collection, Winson Peng on data preprocessing, and Jie Qin on data visualization. Baohua Zhou, an associate professor of Fudan Journalism School, concluded the workshop with lectures on data analysis. Fudan-CCR To ensure the quality of training, this workshop admitted only 32 students from over 100 applicants, who are from universities in the U.S, China, Hong Kong, and Macau. As a distinctive feature, the workshop used R as the programming tool throughout the seven days. fudan-feature (clockwise) Jonathan Zhu, Winson Peng, Hai Liang, and Jie Qin guide students In April, five members of the Lab offered a 4-day in-house workshop on Web Mining in the Department, which attracted 41 participants, including 25 PhD students, 6 faculty members, and 9 visiting scholars.
