Jonathan Zhu was invited panelist in the Telecommunications and Media Forum
Jonathan Zhu participated as an invited panelist in the Telecommunications and Media Forum (TMF) on “Building the Digital Economy in Asia – Future Directions and Policies”. This forum(http://www.iicom.org/telecoms-and-media-forum/TMF%20Hong%20Kong%202010/programme-outline-HK-2010.php), is organized by the International Institute of Communications (IIC) on June 9-10, 2010. The IIC, a Europe-based think tank focusing on policy and regulatory matters of information and communication technology, holds the TMF three times a year, one in Europe, another in the U. S., and the third rotated around the world that was in Hong Kong this time. Other invited panelists include governmental regulators, legislators, senior executives from telecommunication, broadcast, and media distribution industries across Asia-Pacific. Jonathan delivered a speech on “Audience Responses to Media Convergence in Hong Kong” and also participated in a lively debate on free content on the Internet, in which he sided with the advocates of the idea whereas representatives of media industries (i.e., OSPs) objected and telecommunications (i.e., ISPs) stood neutral.
