Jonathan gave an inaugural speech at Tsinghua-Renren Center

Jonathan gave a talk on “Interdisciplinarity of social media research: status, problems and future” at the newly founded Tsinghua University-Renren.com Social Media Research Center on November 17, 2012. Prof. Jin Jianbin, Director of the Center, introduced Jonathan as the most suitable speaker chosen to kick off the Tsinghua-Renren Social Media Lecture Series. In his talk, Jonathan cited an ongoing project of Web Mining Lab, which found that less than 10% of the 1,000+ studies on Facebook and Twitter were collaborated between sciences and social sciences, to illustrate the desirability and the difficulty in interdisciplinary research.
